阿佩莱斯与鞋匠

阿佩莱斯作画，一个鞋匠对画中的鞋子提出批评，阿佩莱斯欣然修改。鞋匠自以为高明，又对画中的其他部分指指点点。阿佩莱斯不耐烦地对他说：“鞋匠，（请你批评的范围）不要高过鞋子。”从此这成为著名谚语，意思是一个人对自己自己专业之外的事情不要妄加批评。

拉丁文："Sutor, ne ultra crepidam."

英文："A cobbler should stick to his last."

西班牙文： "Zapatero a tus zapatos."

荷兰语： "Schoenmaker, blijf bij je leest."

德语： "Schuster, bleib bei deinen Leisten."
